The Rolls Royce Boat Tail is one of the most expensive luxury cars ever made and with only 3 units commissioned it is also one of the rarest. Out of the 3 cars that were made, two of them have been showcased in public.
The first and probably the more recognizable one is the dual tone blue and black car (in featured photo) which at one point was rumored to be owned by Beyonce and Jay-Z. This car has been spotted being driven in Dubai and more recently in London this May. The second Boat Tail is an all brown car that was first revealed at Villa d’Este in 2021, this car has since been photographed once at an airfield in the Swiss Alps next to a private jet that presumably belongs to the same owner.
However, the last Rolls Royce Boat Tail is something of a mystery. It is believed that the 3rd client didn’t want any publicity, so there were no official photos released by Rolls Royce unlike the other two cars.
From what I know, this 3rd car has never been spotted and no photographs have come out in public as of right now, with Rolls Royce’s initial statement being the only confirmation of this car’s existence, which only adds to the mystery of this already elusive car. It seems to be completely hidden in a private collection somewhere but considering the ridiculous amount of wealth required to own one of these cars, I can’t say that is surprising.
With an unseen mystery car like this Boat Tail, you can’t help but imagine what it might look like. What kind of spec did the owner choose for their car? Did they stick with something classy or traditional, or something unique and unusual?
Or perhaps the spec was inspired by something very personal to the owner like in the case of one of the four cars of RR’s next bespoke model, the Amethyst Droptail.
Until we see a photo of the car I suppose we will never know. Hopefully one day, we will get to see this elusive Boat Tail out in spotlight.
