The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R is one of the many GT3 race cars that currently participate in IMSA, the top level sports car racing championship in America. The Z06 GT3.R is fielded by a couple of teams, but Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller motorsports is the official works team of General Motors and competes in the GTD Pro series in IMSA.
Making its debut in 2024, the Z06 GT3 saw decent results that season with a couple of podiums and even one win. 2025 however, started off with a bang as the Z06 GT3 got second place in GTD Pro with the #3 Pratt Miller car and won in the GTD series in the 24 Hours Of Daytona with the #13 AWA car.
The Z06 GT3.R would continue to perform well in IMSA with consistent results and several podium finishes. In the end, the #3 Pratt Miller car won the GTD Pro Championship and Corvette Racing had finished first overall as a manufacturer, a great achievement for the Z06 GT3 considering 2025 was just the second year of competing in the LMGT3 class.
It wasn’t only in IMSA where the Z06 GT3 performed, as it would win two races in WEC at Qatar and Fuji as well under the racing team TF Sport.
While Corvette Racing saw great success with the #3 car in 2025, the #4 car didn’t do as well and finished sixth in the GTD Pro standings.
Fortunately, the 2026 season seems to be much better for the #4 as they are currently second in the standings and have a chance at winning the championship with two races to go. I hope they can do it, since I have the Mini GT 1/64 diecast of the #4 car from 2025.
Meanwhile in the WEC, the #33 TF Sport Z06 would win the 24 Hours Of Le Mans LMGT3 class in 2026, making it the first time this car won the legendary endurance race. The win at Le Mans means the only major race the Z06 GT3.R hasn’t won yet is the 12 Hours of Sebring, which I would love to see happen next year (preferably with the #4 Pratt Miller car) and seeing how successful the Z06 has been so far, it’s very possible.
