This Ferrari F355 Spider Is Finished In A Rare Shade Of Blue

When you think of the Ferrari F355 Spider you would almost certainly imagine in their signature red color, but this example here happens to be very different since it’s painted blue. Now blue is not a normal sight on a Ferrari, especially on older models like the F355 which were around before the Tailor Made program was really a thing, making this example one of only a handful of F355s that left the factory in the color.

The exact shade this F355 Spider has been finished in is called Blu NART, a rare shade that goes back to the 1960s, with an interesting backstory behind it. NART is short for North American Racing Team, which was founded by Italian American businessman and former endurance racer Luigi Chinetti. Chinetti was already established as the primary importer of Ferrari cars to America and North American Racing Team was basically to promote the brand by bringing Ferrari race cars to American motorsport. The team saw great success in endurance racing and won several events within the country as well as the 24 Hours Of Le Mans.

Chinetti would later commission The Ferrari 275 GTB NART Spider after he suggested to Enzo Ferrari that his customers would have interest in a convertible version of the 275 GTB/4. Only 10 of these cars were built making it one of the most exclusive Ferrari models ever. It was during this time when the Blu NART shade was created.

At first glance Blu NART looks very similar to the more well known Blu Tour De France shade but in the sunlight, you will notice that Blu NART has slightly more green flakes while Blu TDF is basically a pure deep blue.

Back to the F355 Spider, the beige interior looks pretty nice and matches well with the blue exterior paint. The small red horizontal stripe on the side of the car and the painted Scuderia Ferrari shields were both aftermarket additions, while everything else is original. This car would be sold for $63,500 in 2025 on the auction platform Cars & Bids.

I think it’s interesting that even back in the 1990s you had Ferraris in all these different shades, yet only once in a while you see certain rare examples like this F355 Spider come around in the spotlight.
