With a primary focus on off road capabilities while having the typical luxury elements of a modern Land Rover, the modern Land Rover Defender has become more of an adaptable car and it’s easy to see why it can be seen driven even in cities as well.
Just recently, I encountered not only one but two well specced Defenders while out spotting. The first Defender was black in color and was equipped with a roof rack and a side storage compartment. It also had blue brake calipers on the wheels. At the time of spotting it was just this black Defender that was there at the time. A nice car to spot especially with how well specced it was, but still not an unusual spot for the area.
After a break, I came back to the location where the first Defender was and it was still there. But a few moments later to my absolute surprise, a second Defender rolled in. With a gold and black dual tone paint job and no visible equipment on the outside of the car, this one looked more luxurious. The second Defender would end up stopping behind the first one.

The gold and black Defender
Since the two Defenders were in formation and looked pretty new if not brand new, I wondered if they were possibly meant to be on temporary display. However, both cars had registered license plates and there was no brand promotion visible anywhere so most likely these cars were unofficially displayed.
I had enough time to photograph and admire these off road beasts, but the gold and black car did leave around 15 minutes after I saw it which again makes me think these were unofficially displayed. The all black car on the other hand, stayed in the same place until I left.
Seeing one Defender is itself something nice, but the fact a second Defender arrived is what makes this spot for me as that was definitely not something I expected would have happened.
