Supercars From The Void Part 4: Porsche Carrera GTZ Zagato

I only very recently came to know about the Porsche Carrera GTZ Zagato after coming across an image of it on Instagram and let me say this, it is exactly the kind of the car that is perfect for this series. The whole story behind this car is quite interesting, apparently a Swiss collector approached the design house Zagato and wanted to redesign his Porsche Carrera GT, so Zagato did exactly that and the result is the Carrera GTZ.

The Carrera GTZ comes with new bumpers, a new roof panel and a completely redesigned rear engine cover which looks a lot smoother and more aerodynamic compared to the original rear section of the Carrera GT. It gives the design more of a classic feel and I think it looks really nice on the car.

Zagato only did 6 Carrera GTZ conversions in total. Out of the 6 cars that were built, 4 of them have been shown in public to my knowledge, the original silver prototype example, a light green example owned by well known American collector Kris Singh, a darker green example that went on sale back in 2023 which was the only example with a completely custom Zagato interior and a dark gray example with a white stripe that happens to be owned by none other than Horacio Pagani.

Although the other 2 examples still seem to remain hidden as of now, chances are they might show up eventually and I’m sure they would be nicely customized much like the other examples we have already seen.

Remember that all six of these cars started out their lives as Porsche Carrera GTs and the Carrera GT itself is one of the rarest production Porsche models with 1270 units in total, so it only adds another layer to just how special the Carrera GTZ Zagato is. Simply put it the Carrera GTZ Zagato is insanely exclusive even among collector cars just because of the fact only 6 conversions were made.

Modifications on a supercar or luxury car, especially when done to a car of this level, will always come with mixed opinions. I for one think the Carrera GTZ Zagato is a great example of how a rebodied supercar can be beautiful when done right.
