It’s been a while since I’ve written about one of the cars in my rather old Supercars trump card set that is from around 2014. This set consists of 25 supercars and hypercars mainly from the mid 1990’s to the early 2010’s. Several of these are legendary cars while others are not as known but each of these 25 cars have a story to tell and so I’ve decided to share them all on here.
I’ve done several of these cars already like the Mclaren 12C and Lexus LFA. But now it’s time to cover the next car from the set, the Jaguar XJ220. I hope you enjoy seeing these older supercars because there will be more coming.
Jaguar is a car maker with a long history of producing luxury cars and supercars, it has created several types of cars such as the XF luxury sedan, F-Pace SUV and several supercars such as the XKR and F Type.
And then there is the Jaguar XJ220. Produced from 1992 to 1994, the XJ220 is probably one of the most unique supercars ever created. Unlike majority of supercars at the time powered by V8s or V12s, the XJ220 had a twin turbo V6 engine. It was also surprisingly powerful at 500 horsepower and reached a top speed of 341 kmph making it one of the fastest cars at that time period.
The XJ220’s exterior design is simple but yet at the same time also looking futuristic, a style that was quite popular in supercars from the 1990s. Even today, lot of the 1990s supercars are still some of the most attractive cars created to many.
Unfortunately, Jaguar never made anything as crazy or similar to the XJ220 as of today. Though the XJ220 may not have been as remembered as some of the cars from that period of time such as the Ferrari F50, Lamborghini Diablo and Porsche 959. It is still quite the car in its own right. To have a speed of over 300 kmph let alone 341 was a very impressive thing in the 1990s and the Jaguar XJ220 managed to do it. That is really quite something.
