Stunning Bugatti Mistral Up For Auction At Sotheby’s Monterey

There are several collector car auctions that take place during the Monterey Car Week and a great number of incredible cars that get listed. One such car which caught my attention is this Bugatti Mistral, one of many hypercars that are part of the “Driver’s Philosophy” collection offered by Sotheby’s Monterey.

What makes the Mistral so special? There are couple of things. It’s the final Bugatti model to have the Bugatti W16 engine and it holds the record of the world’s fastest open top production car. Additionally, only 99 units were produced, making it one of the rarest Bugatti cars out there.

All units of the Bugatti Mistral were sold out before it was even revealed so Sotheby’s Monterey has given a very rare opportunity for those who missed out on the Mistral to get their hands on what I would consider one of the most stunning examples in existence.

This example has a bright Italian Red exterior with Nocturne black accents. This theme continues throughout the car with the wheel rims, brake calipers and finally the interior. This red and black combination is guaranteed to catch the attention of anyone who happens to see this car. This spec also appears to be quite unique as I haven’t come across a similar example to this car, so it makes this example even more desirable for those who might specifically want a Mistral in red.

Besides the paint, this car also has $325,000 worth of factory options, so the owner put quite an effort into making this spec and in my opinion, they have absolutely nailed it.

With just 321 miles on the odometer and single ownership before being put for auction, this example is even more desirable for collectors. It is estimated that this Mistral is likely to go somewhere between $7.5 and $9.5 million (likely on the higher end). That’s already almost twice the original $5 million price tag of the Mistral and considering production has only ended recently, that’s an insane rise in value.

Some of the cars from the Driver’s Philosophy collection to watch out for in the auction are a Ferrari Daytona SP3 and an Aston Martin Valkyrie Spider. However, the headlining car for this auction is undoubtedly this legendary 1996 McLaren F1 GTR formerly owned by Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, which is expected sell for more than $35 million, so definitely keep an eye out on that one.
