Bugatti has completed the production of their extreme track model Bolide, with a total of 40 units being made over the course of two years. This marks the end of an era, as the Bolide is one of the last models and the last track car from the French manufacturer to use their 8.0 liter W16 engine.

Bugatti’s Bolide gained a reputation as one of the most extreme track hypercars of all time after its arrival thanks to its aerodynamic Formula 1 inspired design, overall radical looks and most importantly the unbelievable 1824 horsepower produced by its engine.

Bolide #40 is a special commission made for a collector, with the exterior spec directly inspired by Bugatti’s racing heritage as well as being made to match the collector’s other two Bugattis, a historic Type 35 and a Veyron Grand Sport, which also happened to be the last example in its production run much like the Bolide.

The exterior of the car has been painted in a color called “Special Blue Lyonnais” and also features midnight blue accents all throughout the car, additionally painted on the side of the car is a small French flag. The all-blue theme continues with the alcantara interior being finished in Lake Blue.

As the Bolide is one of Bugatti’s most extreme, complex and powerful creations, it feels fitting that the final example of this epic track hypercar is one that happens to have such a significant connection to Bugatti’s history seeing that it will share the same garage as a Type 35 and Veyron Grand Sport. As Bugatti have officially stated “The last Bolide therefore completes a trilogy that spans decades”.

The Bugatti Bolide might have ended production, but there is no doubt it will leave a long lasting legacy as one of Bugatti’s most complex and extreme creations and also one of the fastest and greatest track hypercars ever made.
