After 4 years of production the Mercedes SLS AMG would be discontinued in 2014, but not before making one last special edition to celebrate the legacy of the SLS AMG with the SLS AMG Final Edition.
The SLS AMG Final Edition doesn’t really have changes in performance from the original model and instead focuses on visual differences because it was made purely as a collector’s car. It was produced in both coupe and convertible versions, with the approximate numbers being 200 coupes and 150 convertibles to make up a total production of 350 units.
The most noticeable feature of the SLS AMG Final Edition is that the hood is made out of exposed carbon fiber, a feature that makes this special edition really stand out simply because there isn’t any other SLS model or variant (even including the SLS AMG Black Series) with this option. This also makes it the defining difference between the Final Edition and any of the other SLS models. Some of the other exclusive features for the Final Edition are matte black alloy wheels and a special leather interior with silver stitching in a diamond pattern. It also shares the same rear wing as the Black Series.
Because the SLS AMG Final Edition has many visual differences but still keeps the characteristics of the standard model, it has become a great in between package for those who want an SLS that stands out more than the standard model but also something that isn’t track focused like the Black Series.
That being said, exclusivity is the main component of what makes the Final Edition a collector’s car and the special occasion this car was made for only adds to its status. As not only a special edition but the last special edition of the SLS, the Final Edition has become a desirable model for Mercedes AMG and supercar collectors alike and those who are fortunate enough to own this special car are sure to stand out.
