What can one do if they can’t afford a Ferrari or perhaps even don’t want one, but they still want to have a supercar that looks similar to one? Well, in the case of at least one customer, how about buying a BMW M4 Competition and having it in Ferrari’s very own Rosso Corsa shade. This 2024 example was put on sale by BMW Manhattan some time ago and I must say this is quite the car.
Although BMW M offers a couple of red shades, Rosso Corsa as you can imagine is a color that can only be done on special order. Even though the 2nd generation BMW M4 has been in production for a couple years, finding special order examples like this one is certainly not easy.
Back to the car, the color really speaks for itself. It’s bright, red and stands out just like how it would on a Ferrari. With the addition of the black wheel rims and red brake calipers, I think this M4 has pretty much nailed the Ferrari spec.
Yes, it might be a bit strange to see an M4 that has the exact same shade of red as Ferrari cars do, but I must say it’s actually kind of a smart move by the original owner because this 2024 BMW M4 Competition xDrive was listed by BMW Manhattan for just over $104k even with the special order paint and other options, while a Ferrari 296 GTB for example would cost at least $340k to order new so that is quite a price difference between these two cars. Even Ferrari’s entry level supercar that is the recently introduced Amalfi, would cost you quite a bit more than this M4 Competition.
With that being said as a Ferrari fan I am someone who very much prefers to see their shade of red being used on their own supercars. However, for someone who loves the Ferrari red but can’t afford a Ferrari model or wants to have it on a completely different supercar, this BMW M4 Competition would come off as a pretty solid offer.
The M4 has since been sold and is no longer listed, but it is nice to think that Ferrari’s Rosso Corsa is so loved that there are customers out there who don’t mind paying extra to have the exact shade on supercars from other manufacturers.
