The day a supercar fan sees his first Ferrari is a very special day and that day happened recently when I saw my first Ferrari through the glass of the Ferrari showroom in Mumbai. When I was going there, I was thinking of the Ferrari models I could possibly see like the 458 Italia, 812 Superfast, 488 GTB, 488 Pista or perhaps even the LaFerrari, the fastest of all Ferraris even if I knew that last one was pretty much impossible. Instead of any of the mentioned cars, there was a Ferrari in a darker metallic shade of red with metallic silver wheels that I could not identify but it definitely seemed pretty special to me.
I later found out the car is called the Portofino M and for some reason I had not heard about this car which was unbelievable to me. So I made sure to find out everything I could about the Portofino M. It turns out the Portofino M was only introduced in 2020 making it one of the newest Ferraris launched. It has a V8 engine and it can reach a top speed of 310 kmh and it is basically a facelifted, more powerful version of the Portofino. This confirmed my feelings of the car being a special car was right.
Now even though I saw only the front and side of the Portofino M, it made a great impression on me. It looked beautiful especially in the shining metallic red color that I saw it in the showroom. Now the Portofino M comes with a retractable roof but the car that I saw in the showroom had the roof on.
Somehow, it feels just right that the first Ferrari I ever get to see in person happens to be one I didn’t know about, even with my knowledge of Ferraris. I know I will see more Ferraris in the future but the Portofino M is a car I will certainly never forget for being my first Ferrari sighting.
