Pagani Huayra R – Pagani’s Insane Track Huayra

Pagani Huayra R – Pagani’s Insane Track Huayra

A couple of months ago I made a post identifying 1/18 scale model supercars and hypercars that I saw in a store in Dubai. If you have read the post you might have noticed there was one car in particular that caught my attention.

That car happens to be the Pagani Huayra R, which was not only one of the rarest cars in the scale model store (being #04 of at the most 99) but one of the rarest in real life as there were only 30 units of the Huayra R produced.

The Huayra R is a non road legal, pure track only car much like the earlier Zonda R. The 838 horsepower naturally-aspirated “V12-R” engine is the beast that creates the Huayra R’s insane raw sound and top speed of 386 kmph, making it Pagani’s fastest car as of now.

And as you would expect from anything from Pagani, the Huayra R is loaded with carbon fiber. And when I say loaded, nearly all specifications have large parts of carbon fiber and some cars even have a full carbon coated exterior. Besides that are the usual track car features like a rear spoiler, changes to the aerodynamics and an overall more aggressive look compared to the normal Huayra.

The Huayra R is undoubtedly one of Pagani’s most insane cars ever made but you would be mistaken if it ended there. No, Horacio Pagani just a few months ago has brought in an even more insane creation called the Huayra R Evo, a Le Mans inspired car with more changes to the aerodynamics and even more power added with the Evo’s engine being 888 horsepower, 50 more than the Huayra R.

Most importantly however the Huayra R Evo has a removable roof and although the Evo’s top speed isn’t known currently and I couldn’t find any sources claiming a number, it would likely be the fastest Huayra roadster variant if not the fastest Huayra entirely. The Evo will most certainly be even more exclusive with most likely less than 30 units produced.

Knowing Pagani’s history of making exclusive special edition and insane track variants of their cars it will be interesting to see what special editions will come for the more recent Utopia model or if Pagani might just put out a final Huayra variant or two which is what they seem to like to do with their cars.
