Bugatti’s Newest Creation Pays Tribute To A Legend

The Bugatti FKP Hommage hypercar

Bugatti has unveiled their newest one off creation from Programme Solitaire, their specialized personalization division. The Bugatti FKP Hommage pays tribute to the legendary Bugatti Veyron, a record breaking car that broke barriers.

More specifically, this car pays tribute to Veyron chassis #001, which came in a red and black two tone paint scheme. The Hommage keeps the classic Veyron shape and elements but with a modern touch. The front lights are somewhat similar to the Bugatti Tourbillon but the rest of the car looks very much like a Veyron with the sides, rear and even the fuel tank matching exactly like the original Veyron.

What’s under the hood on the other hand, is a 1600 hp 8.0 liter W16 engine that powers the Chiron Super Sport so you have what is basically an enhanced Bugatti Veyron with the power of a Chiron Super Sport. Now that is something.

I’m sure you must have noticed the “FKP” initials in the name of the car and if you did recognize them, it’s because there is an earlier car in the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 which also has the same initials. FKP stands for Ferdinand Karl Piech, he was the former CEO of the Volkswagen Group under which Bugatti operated during the 2000s and most of the 2010s, before being taken over by Mate Rimac of the Rimac Group.

Besides being the CEO at the time Piech was also an engineer, the Veyron was his grand vision. With the idea of the Veyron having over 1000 hp and reaching 400 kmph, it was an ambitious project that seemed like it was impossible. In 2005, Piech’s vision would became reality and the Veyron shattered all speed records, showing the world that the impossible could be achieved.

The Bugatti Veyron would become something of a legend. Not only for what it did back when it came out in 2005, but for what it ended up creating, the modern hypercar revolution. The FKP Hommage is a fitting tribute that not only honors the start of the hypercar era, but also the revolutionary engineer who made it a possibility.
