The Ferrari Tailor Made program has resulted in a lot of Ferrari models being seen in a variety of specs, many which are quite interesting. One thing I’ve seen that quite a few Tailor Made Ferrari owners like to do is pay tribute to Ferrari’s racing heritage by matching their car’s spec to a livery from one of Ferrari’s numerous historic cars, just like with this 812 Competizione Aperta here.
The inspiration of this particular spec comes from Ferrari 250 GTO chassis #3445GT, a car which was famously painted blue and yellow at the request of Swedish driver Ulf Norinder (who was the owner of the car at the time during the 1960s) to match the colors of his home country, with the car keeping its blue and yellow livery even to this day.
Moving back to the 812 Competizione A, the livery is done in French Racing Blue and Giallo Modena with the addition of the number 112 on the front and both doors, 112 being the number #3445GT raced with during the 1964 Targa Florio. To make this 812 Competizione Aperta feel like even more a race car, the owner opted for carbon racing seats with Heritage Blu Profondo leather to match the primary blue theme of the exterior.
The 250 GTO is one of the most iconic Ferrari models ever made and chassis #3445GT’s unique race livery makes it stand out, so you can definitely see why a Tailor Made Ferrari owner would go for such a spec. Being a track focused front engine V12 with great performance just like the historic racer of the 60s, the 812 Competizione suits this spec quite nicely as well.
All in all, I think this 812 Competizione A is a great tribute and thanks to the owner who decided on this spec and the guys at Ferrari Tailor Made, the legacy of #3445GT continues.
